The elementary school’s core task is to teach the basics and stimulate a positive attitude towards learning. A structured day with daily exercises and varied ideas quickly gives security and enjoyment of skills.
As a flexible full-time school, we provide parents and pupils with differentiated options. Our offer is divided into the core and supplementary programme. The core programme is obligatory, covering the daily lessons from 8:15 am to 1:15 pm – including lunch and two afternoon sessions until 4:15 pm. As a rule, these afternoon sessions can be chosen freely, except for in grades 3 and 4 – where one afternoon session is fixed on which lessons are held. The optional supplementary programme contains up to two further afternoon sessions.
All afternoons on which lessons take place are comprised of playing time, concentrated learning time and supplementary elective courses.
From 1st grade onwards, we work with the cybernetic method. “Kybernetes” comes from the Greek term and it translates into “helmsman.” The children are instructed on how to control their learning process themselves. It’s a learning process that interlinks the head, mouth and hand – thinking, speaking and touching.
English according to Helen Doron
As early as 1st grade, children learn English according to the Helen Doron method. Just like with the mother tongue, the pupils discover for themselves the English language through games, rhymes and songs.
