Everyone can, no one has to

Afternoon classes can be stressful. Homework too. That’s why we prefer to do neither. Instead we study for  short, concentrated periods during specially designated study time. And perform circus tricks in an elective course. All in the company of classmates, under the guidance of the youth and community worker.

Afternoon sessions are offered from Monday to Thursday. Two are part of the core program and are therefore mandatory. Any additional afternoon sessions are optional and can be booked for half a year at a time. The choice of afternoons for both the mandatory and optional afternoon sessions is up to students and parents. All afternoon sessions consist of learning time and a range of fun elective activities. The sessions end at 4:05 pm. On Fridays and days when no afternoon session is booked, the school day ends at 2:05 pm.

We start with an afternoon snack, then 20 minutes of math, 20 minutes of German. During this time the students do a variety of practice exercises and drills, supported by the youth and community worker. This is enough – because it is quiet and therefore easy to concentrate. No further homework is required to be done at home.

Musical or athletic, artistic or technical: in our elective courses students can try things out, enjoy new experiences, discover talents and find their own individual way… all in the company of their peers. Elective activities usually last 60 minutes. The current options are:

  • Science experiments
  • Kapla and Co.
  • Reading workshop
  • Music combo
  • Rap, Rhythm and Rhyme
  • Games, fun and movement
  • Handicrafts, sawing and more
  • Circus skills
