Getting a lot done without overdoing things

Learning is more enjoyable without stress. That is why we do not set written homework. Instead, learning and practice take place at school.

From Monday to Thursday, the afternoon begins at 2:15 pm with free time in our extensive park grounds. Students can choose from a wide range of sports and games.

Then it is time to learn and study. A teacher or educational support worker is on hand in a quiet atmosphere that helps students concentrate.

The school day ends at 4:15 pm. For students in grades 5 to 7, we also offer optional supervision until 4:15 pm on Fridays.

Play and learning go hand in hand. At the start of the afternoon, educational support workers and teachers offer a wide range of games and activities for students to join. Football, hockey, Speedminton, chess, cornhole, Kubb and the nest swing are particular favourites.

Then study time begins: we spend 20 minutes each on mathematics, English and German (and Latin from grade 6 onward). Our weekly practice plan sets out the tasks. It helps students learn to assess their own skills and check their results. The class’s educational support worker is there to help. There are no written assignments to complete at home.

A game of football in the park, table tennis or a workout in the weights room: students decide for themselves how to relax during their free time.

Afterwards, practice time begins in the classroom. A selection of written tasks is available, and students decide which to prioritise and in what order to work through them. Alternatively, they can read books. Time for rest breaks is also included.

From Grade 12 onwards, students take responsibility for organising their own afternoons. Various rooms, including a library, are available for individual work during study time.

Afternoon lessons take place only occasionally in grades 12 and 13.

The weekend is nearly here: for students in Grades 5 to 7, we offer an optional Friday afternoon session until 4:15 pm, which can be booked separately. There is time for sports in small groups, card or board games, painting and crafts, or simply reading.
